Review:
This is a diner where I always bring my guests, and I often
go alone to enjoy their meals and friendly atmosphere.
Everyone there seems to know everyone else and it's fun to
eavesdrop on the local chit-chat while waiting for a meal
that is sure to be delicious. The only problem I have is
that they don't seem to know how to cook vegetables.
Carrots are just cooked carrots. Green beans are just
cooked green beans. But the salads are filled with a
variety of greens and fresh garden vegetables. For some
reason, I am always asked if I want onion in my salad. I
guess it's not popular with many of the regulars, so they
always ask first. I like the blue-cheese dressing; it's
filled with big hunks of blue-cheese.
If you order mashed potatoes with gravy, the gravy doesn't
match the entre; in other words, it's always the same
pot-roast gravy even if you order turkey or chicken. It's
not a big problem for me, I like pot-roast gravy and I
often order pot-roast anyway. Dinner usually comes with hot
dinner rolls. The soups are basic but good. I rarely have
room for dessert at the end of one of their dinners, so I
usually just get a strawberry milk-shake to go with the
meal and feel I've had my dessert by the time it's done.
It's thick with real strawberries and icecream. I always
have food left over and they cheerfully pack it up for me
to take home and enjoy a second time.
